Twenty-four bowlers from the Central Division endured thunder storms, heat and humidity Sunday August 7th in Triples competition on very challenging greens (wet, dry, then really wet!). The competitors had the added attraction (or distraction) of thundering jets roaring directly overhead from the Milwaukee Air Show. Congratulations to the team of Bob Schneider, Rob Behncke, and Charlene Harmon for capturing the Triples Championship. The MLPLBA would like to recognize and extend thanks to Tournament Director Leif Andresen for coordinating and conducting the Central Division Open Tournament over the past two weekends. The second No Bocce Bowl Tournament was held on July 20, 2014. Seven bowlers participated. 1st place was awarded to Roland Faas and 2nd place went to Ted Bailey. Participants dressed in the colors of the Italian Flag: red, white, and green. Charlene Harmon organized the tournament.

This past weekend Milwaukee bowlers Anna Witt and Rebecca Nguyen emerged as winners of Women’s Pairs Playdowns and will represent the Central Division in the US National Championships in Arcadia California October 16-20. This annual event is competition amongst bowlers who represent Bowls USA’s seven divisions. Congratulations and best of luck to Anna and Rebecca.

MLPLBA hosted the 2014 Central Division Playdowns tournament on August 9/10 (Pairs) and 16/17 (Singles). Men’s Pairs winners were Bob Schneider and Rob Behncke.
