Twenty-four bowlers from the Central Division endured thunder storms, heat and humidity Sunday August 7th in Triples competition on very challenging greens (wet, dry, then really wet!). The competitors had the added attraction (or distraction) of thundering jets roaring directly overhead from the Milwaukee Air Show. Congratulations to the team of Bob Schneider, Rob Behncke, and Charlene Harmon for capturing the Triples Championship. The MLPLBA would like to recognize and extend thanks to Tournament Director Leif Andresen for coordinating and conducting the Central Division Open Tournament over the past two weekends. Teams who placed in the Triples competition included:14 bowlers competed in the annual Chili Bowl at the Milwaukee Lake Park Lawn Bowls Club on Saturday October 1st. The Chili Bowl is traditionally the last tournament of the season. This past weekend Milwaukee bowlers Anna Witt and Rebecca Nguyen emerged as winners of Women’s Pairs Playdowns and will represent the Central Division in the US National Championships in Arcadia California October 16-20. This annual event is competition amongst bowlers who represent Bowls USA’s seven divisions. Congratulations and best of luck to Anna and Rebecca.
The first Club Event of the season at Lake Park Lawn Bowling Club will be held on Memorial Day weekend May 26-27. Novice and experienced bowlers are encouraged to participate. We plan a fun-filled weekend, limbering up our arms and legs while figuring out what the “grass” is. There will be two 14 end games…
