Some of the finest lawn bowlers from around the nation have descended upon the Santa Anita Bowling Green Club this week for the men’s and women’s Southwest Division Open. The tournament is sanctioned by the United States Lawn Bowling Association. The event started on Saturday 4/28 and runs through Thursday 5/3. Players compete in singles, pairs and foursome brackets. Competing in the women’s tournament are Milwaukee Lake Park Lawn Bowling Club bowlers Anna Witt (pictured) and Glorianne Mather, and competing in the men’s tournament are Bob Schneider and Steve Nelson. The Santa Anita Bowling Green Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.We held our Annual Meeting of the Membership on November 1, 2014. Club business was discussed and elections were held. We had 16 entrants. The winning team was Jim Grzybowski (skip) and Jerry Mathwig (lead), defeating Crandall Hays (skip) and Min Waite (lead). After the winning team, each player was ranked according to wins and plus points. Crandall finished third, Min fourth, Brian Schieble fifth, and Carl Landgren sixth.
