Some of the finest lawn bowlers from around the nation have descended upon the Santa Anita Bowling Green Club this week for the men’s and women’s Southwest Division Open. The tournament is sanctioned by the United States Lawn Bowling Association. The event started on Saturday 4/28 and runs through Thursday 5/3. Players compete in singles, pairs and foursome brackets. Competing in the women’s tournament are Milwaukee Lake Park Lawn Bowling Club bowlers Anna Witt (pictured) and Glorianne Mather, and competing in the men’s tournament are Bob Schneider and Steve Nelson. The Santa Anita Bowling Green Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.Wednesday Night Open Bowling for all club members begins Wednesday June 1. Men and women will bowl together on pairs or triples teams. Teams will be determined by the number of people and skill level of those present to bowl each Wednesday.
