This past weekend Anna Witt and Glorianne Mather emerged as winners of women’s pairs playdowns and will represent the Central Division in the US National Championships in San Diego, CA October 24-28. This annual event is competition amongst bowlers who represents the USLBA’s seven divisions. Congratulations and best of luck to Anna and Glorianne. Runners-up in the women’s pairs playdown competition were Pat Wimmer and Charlene Harmon.
This club tournament was inspired by the veteran novice pairs tournament played at Jefferson Park in Seattle, WA and we started playing our own version in 2011, typically with two matches in the morning and two matches in the afternoon. 15 bowlers particpated in the first Veteran/Novice tournament held at Milwaukee Lake Park LBA on Sunday, September 25, 2011. Creative lawn bowling attire was encouraged and some teams got into the spirit by wearing tie-dyed t-shirts, Hawaiian shirts, and Packers jerseys.
