This past weekend Anna Witt and Glorianne Mather emerged as winners of women’s pairs playdowns and will represent the Central Division in the US National Championships in San Diego, CA October 24-28. This annual event is competition amongst bowlers who represents the USLBA’s seven divisions. Congratulations and best of luck to Anna and Glorianne. Runners-up in the women’s pairs playdown competition were Pat Wimmer and Charlene Harmon.
This club tournament was inspired by the veteran novice pairs tournament played at Jefferson Park in Seattle, WA and we started playing our own version in 2011, typically with two matches in the morning and two matches in the afternoon. Sixteen bowlers participated in this highly competitive tournament, held on June 7 and 8, 2014. 1st place went to Bob Schneider and Rob Behncke, who also won in 2013. Veteran and novice bowlers came together to form six pairs teams and competed against each other in a 6-end round robin tournament on September 26, 2015. The tournament director was Carl Landgren.
