Tournaments

After taking a hiatus for several years and then being merged with the Otto Hess Invitational in 2013, the Sydney Steller Invitational returned as a separate women’s only tournament on September 6, 2014. While only two teams played, it was a fine day of pairs competition. The winners were Rebecca Nguyen and Glorianne Mather.

MLPLBA hosted the 2014 Central Division Playdowns tournament on August 9/10 (Pairs) and 16/17 (Singles). Men’s Pairs winners were Bob Schneider and Rob Behncke. Women’s Pairs winners were Anna Witt and Glorianne Mather. Men’s Singles winner was Max Cavender. Women’s Singles winner was Pat Wimmer. The Stuart Club Pairs Tournament on Saturday, August 2 featured games of 3-bowl pairs, a first at the Milwaukee Lake Park greens. Steven Nelson organized the tournament. 13 players participated. Coming in first place were Carl Landgren and Rob Behncke. Second place went to Tom Vanderbilt and Pat Mueller/Max Cavender.

The second No Bocce Bowl Tournament was held on July 20, 2014. Seven bowlers participated. 1st place was awarded to Roland Faas and 2nd place went to Ted Bailey.  Participants dressed in the colors of the Italian Flag: red, white, and green. Charlene Harmon organized the tournament.

Mindful of the win and plus points they would need to achieve in their final game, the team of Max Cavender, Anna Witt, and Matt de St. Aubin just managed to pull ahead of Carl Landgren, Jim Grzybowski, and Jacob Blundon…
