Congratulations to Milwaukee Lake Park Lawn Bowls Association member Anna Witt on being selected to represent the U. S. in international lawn bowls competition in 2012 as part of Team USA. Team USA represents the U.S. in major world lawn bowling events. Men and women team members are carefully selected based on their demonstrated ability and willingness to compete at the international level. Anna was selected to compete on Team USA in the 2012 North American Challenge (USA vs Canada). The tournament is scheduled for September in Victoria, British Columbia. The North American Challenge is one of four tournaments sponsored by the United States Lawn Bowls Association.Associate member, Ted Bailey, sold his condo in Kenosha and headed back to California where he will live year-round. Ted served as the Friday Frolics league director for four years, played in tournaments, and has been a friendly face for Milwaukee bowlers that play in California tournaments. We will miss him.
The season is fast approaching. Like every year at this time, we need to spend some time on our greens, grounds and house to prepare for the upcoming season. Many of you have already volunteered your time to help with the new portico project and doing work on our house and grounds . Thank you…
Monday Night Singles League, open to all club members, begins June 6. Men and Women will bowl together. This is the most competitive of the leagues and is a great opportunity to improve your game. Sign-up is required. Players are handicapped so that new players can compete with experienced players. Matches begin at 6:30 PM.
Winter in Milwaukee, WI invariably arrives with its snow and sub-freezing temperatures. Our greens typically take a rest and some of our bowlers pursue other activities, like curling. Our long winter hibernation is over and everyone is looking forward to bowling once the snow melts, greens dry out and temperatures warm. All club members are invited to the annual Spring Luncheon on Saturday May 4th at the Hilton Milwaukee River to catch up and look forward to another great season on the greens….
